Transgenderism: Course change required
Whether biological men who claim to identify as women should play in girls’ sports is a matter of opinion. That individuals with XX and XY chromosomes are, respectively, female and male is not. The imbroglio resulting from WNBA Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s softly spoken defense of preserving women’s sports for women is endemic of the left’s hostility to facts.
Last week, Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, who favors allowing at least some men who claim to be women to play in the WNBA, defended those who disagree. She acknowledged that pro-women demonstrators have been peaceful and did not threaten the “safe space” of others. Reeve explained that she favors allowing transwomen (biological men) in the WNBA to be “inclusive,” though she acknowledged the issues are more complicated when championships and scholarships are at stake.
Reeve largely presented a reasonable position and rationale from which I respectfully dissent. She did not address when a man who identifies as a woman may play in the WNBA. Is a recent epiphany sufficient? Must he be taking hormones? Must his testosterone be below a specified level? Or, must he physically transition through gender reassignment surgery?
According to the Advocates for Trans Equality Education Fund which conducted the most comprehensive survey of trans people, 40% have never undergone any stage of medical transition, 56% received hormones, and 29% had at least one gender-related procedure, usually chest surgery for transmen and electrolysis for transwomen. Fewer than 10% have had the surgery required to transition, and most do not want it. Nine percent eventually reverted to living as their biological sex.
When should any man be allowed in women’s sports? NEVER! Absolutely nobody has been born in the wrong body, and to say otherwise, you’re saying God made a mistake. Take that in for a minute. I guess we’re just supposed to toss the Bible in the trash as rubbish? Are you really sure that’s the stance you want to take? I’ll break this down that everyone should be able to understand. Actually, I’ll give two things. Suppose you’re a mentally ill man that thinks he’s a woman, you may wear a dress, undergo surgeries, take hormones, the whole nine yards. Then suppose you go camping in a strange place and you wonder off and nobody finds you and you die in the wilderness. Eventually, when your decomposed body is found, your skeleton will show you as a man. You can’t change that fact. Now my name is Paul. Suppose I go out and rob a bank and cameras in the bank show who I am. I go home with all this cash and decide to hide my identity so I get to keep the money, so I put on a dress. The next day the cops kick my door in, but I’m wearing a dress and tell them I’m Paula, and I don’t know Paul. Better yet, I’ll tell them to stop dead naming because it hurts my feelings. Do you think I’ll get to dodge going to prison and get to keep the cash? This sounds silly, right? Sure it does, and so does any man that thinks he’s a woman!
