Country singer Kacey Musgraves turns concert into plea for kids whose parents were deported ‘unfairly’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eight-time Grammy award-winning country singer Kacey Musgraves paused the opening night of her “Middle of Nowhere” tour on Friday at Chicago’s United Center to ask fans to donate to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights as her birthday wish, saying the nonprofit helped children whose parents had been deported “unfairly.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It\u2019s a wonderful organization, and they help give aid \u2014 legal aid \u2014 and money to children whose parents have been deported unfairly,” Musgraves said. “It\u2019s not a political thing. It\u2019s just, these kids need help.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chicago-based Young Center describes its work as pairing volunteers with attorneys and social workers to advocate for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in government custody. Its website lists family unity, release from custody, fair proceedings and children’s best interests among its priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The nonprofit reported serving 1,975 children from 53 countries in 2024 and opening 1,388 new cases. Its 2025 annual report said children’s average detention time increased from 30 to 198 days and requests for assistance from detained parents quadrupled from 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Friday\u2019s appeal extended Musgraves\u2019 support for the charity. In April, resale platform Depop announced that 20 pieces from her wardrobe, including clothing from music videos and tours, would be sold in capsule drops. Women’s Wear Daily reported that all proceeds would benefit the Young Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think these so-called ‘stars’ say these things just as a publicity stunt. Seriously, these parents were and are here illegally, or they wouldn’t have been deported. It’s simple. This is what happens when a non-white illegal has a baby on American soil. Now I’ll say this right now, I don’t agree with birthright citizenship, but because it is a law, the baby is here legally, NOT the parents. With the idea of third world deplorables coming here to have a baby on American soil, they think they can stay here as long as they wish? Nobody tells these invaders when they’re being deported not to take their kids along with them, so why would anyone fight to allow the illegal parents to stay here? We didn’t break up a family, they did by thinking they could stay here. The solution is easy, when the parents are packing up their belongings to leave here, pack up the diapers, the crib, and baby formula too! You are a horrible parent for leaving your child behind in a strange country!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
